Insights from KurSpa Posted March, 2018 Insights from Kurspa | November 01, 2017

As cold and flu season approaches it is important to find ways to keep ourselves and our families healthy.

As cold and flu season approaches it is important to find ways to keep ourselves and our families healthy.

When visiting Sparkling Hill some great ways to boost our immune systems are;

Honey Detox Treatment
Honey contains a wide variety of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. Using a special technique, thick honey is used to pull at the fascia under your skin in order to release any toxins that may be stored. Honey is then worked into the deeper tissue to help detoxify and stimulate the immune system. A final massage of the stomach kick starts the digestive tract and aids detoxification.

Homeopathic Flu Prevention
This treatment is performed by our in-house naturopathic doctors Dr. Krista Ingram and Dr. Ray Lendvai. It is a Homeopathic Flu shot that contains a  combination of homeopathic medicines which activate the immune system against cold and flu viruses.
Our complimentary Salt Steam has a high salt content which has a cleansing effect and can help combat symptoms of the common colds as well our Crystal Steam has eucalyptus which can aid with congestion.

An amazing take home gift you can purchase at KurSpa is our Mustard Bath
Mustard bath is typically used for the treatment of colds, tired achy muscles, fever and congestion. Mustard has been known to stimulate the body to sweat. This opens our pores and helps the body rid itself of toxins. KurSpa Mustard Bath also contains essential oils of wintergreen, eucalyptus and rosemary.
Some great at home options recommended by Dr. Krista Ingram are as follows;

Eucalyptus steam inhalation – at least once per day
Boil water, and pour in a large metal bowl/pot.  Let sit for 1-2 minutes.  Add 2-3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil.  Lean over the bowl and cover your head and the bowl with a large towel.  Breathe in the steam.  The steam will help to loosen phlegm and the eucalyptus is antibacterial and antiviral.  Come up for air as needed!

Lots of fresh garlic in cooking
Stir crushed garlic near the end of cooking to get highest medicinal benefit.

Fresh gingerin cooking and as a drink
Mince 1 tablespoon of ginger and with the juice of ½ a lemon in a mug, cover with hot water and sip.
