How long have you been with us at Sparkling Hill?
I recently joined the Sparkling Hill Team in March 2019

What is your role? Why did you choose to work at Sparkling Hill Resort?
As a self-described “Spa Junkie”,  KurSpa has been on my radar and wish list for years.  When the opportunity arose to manage this incredible facility, I did not have to think twice!

What past education, experiences or career paths have lead you to your current position?
I started my career as a Registered Massage Therapy doing very clinical work.  An opportunity to work in the Caribbean at age 25 fostered my love for incorporating wellness with hospitality work.

How would you describe Sparkling Hill Resort’s internal culture?
I am very impressed with the vitality and positivity of the team here.  From upper management to our wonderful guest service providers, everybody here exudes friendliness and you can see their passion for this unique property and region of the world.

What motivates you on a day to day basis in your role?
To inspire my team to create lasting memories for our Guests at KurSpa.  Also, for the Spa Practitioners to help educate them on their wellness and allow them to reconnect with themselves.  Knowledge empowers!

How are you continuing education or working toward professional goals?
As I am new to this position, right now I am currently learning the 100+ services offered at KurSpa.  I also enjoy taking a wellness or yoga related course every 1-2 years.

Life in General

Tell us about your background. Where are you originally from?
I was the first person in my entire family to have been born in Western Canada, Calgary to be precise. So when I am living and working in Canada, I always keep west.

What are you passionate about? What motivates you?
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of the human body with people.  The more you know about your body, the more in tune you can be with it and recognize when it needs some attention.

What do you enjoy doing most during your free time? What are you favorite hobbies?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and cat.  I look forward to hiking, yoga and exploring on my days off.  I also enjoy baking however usually give most of away so I do not eat it all!

What do you think is the best thing about living in the Okanagan?
I am excited for my first full summer here with all the amazing food and wine!

What is your favorite food?
All the food!  Especially fresh, farm-to-table eating and summer barbecues.

Where in the world have you travelled to? What took you there?
I have lived and worked in the Caribbean in the British Virgin Islands as well as St. Lucia.  We have also lived and worked in Jasper, AB which was breathtaking.  A few years ago we took a trip to France to celebrate a new decade and stayed with many friends and family in a Chateau in Champagne.  Trip of a lifetime!

Which destination would you most like to visit and why?
I would love to return to France and explore all of its unique regions.  I find the culture, food and wine there amazing. And I speak French so I get to use it there.

If you could have any superpower what would it be?
Teleportation.  So I could see everything our beautiful world has to offer.

Who has been your hero? Someone that you look up to in life?
I have been fortunate to have been surrounded by strong women role models in my life.  I grew up knowing that I could do anything I set my mind to, that there were barriers.  My late grandmother was inspirational in her approach to life.  She grew her own food, composted, recycled/reused/repurposed way before it was the thing to do.  She also taught me how to make a perfect pie crust.

How do you incorporate Health and Wellness into your life?
I try to get out for a hike or walk on my days off.  I am currently getting back to my regular yoga practice.  Also a salad every day for lunch so I can have my piece of chocolate at night. Meditation and self-reflection through journaling help keep me mentally healthy as well
